Elon Musk Hopes We Are Living In A Virtual Reality

When asked what the likelihood was that we are all living in a simulated matrix, founder of SpaceX and co-founder of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk used video games as an analogy.

“40 years ago we had Pong – two rectangles and a dot. That’s where we were. Now 40 years later  we have photo-realistic, 3D simulations with millions of people playing simultaneously and it’s  getting better every year.”

Musk says he himself believes that “it would seem to follow that the odds that we’re in ‘base reality’ is one in billions”, but hopes his prediction is true because otherwise it means the world will end.

Humanoid Robots Getting Set To Head To Mars

NASA is teaming up with scientists and students from four universities, in an effort to design humanoid robots to send to Mars.

This 5’9, 275 pounds robot named Valkyrie, that can already walk and is learning to interact with people, will be used to carry out vital tasks in environments deadly to human beings.

Its torque controlled joints and 32 degrees of freedom body provides dexterity which allows it to hold and pass objects and has cameras on its arms, abdomen and legs and force sensors on it to help it react to touch and pressure as well as transmit information.

The Universe Is Expanding Faster Than Previously Thought

A new revelation from NASA shows that the universe is expanding 5 – 9 % faster than previously thought.

By using NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, a team lead by Nobel Laureate Adam Riess of the Space Telescope Science Institute and Johns Hopkins University, made the discovery by refining the universe’s current expansion rate to unprecedented accuracy, reducing the uncertainty to only  2.4 %.

Fireball Lights Up Arizona Sky

Reports have been pouring in to NASA’s Planetary Defense Coordination Office, as an extremely bright fireball lit the predawn sky over much of Arizona.

Based on the latest data, the small asteroid was estimated at 5 feet in diameter, with a mass of  a few tons and a kinetic energy of approximately half a kiloton entering Earth’s atmosphere at an estimated 40,200 miles per hour.

Four New Planets Are Waiting To Be Confirmed

A new discovery from a 22-year-old graduate of the University of British Columbia has found not one but four new planets, all of which orbit within the habitable zone of its star, which means  that surface temperatures on the planet could be conducive to the presence of liquid water and  life.

Michelle Kunimoto uncovered the existence of the four new exoplanet, while examining the masses of data from NASA’s Kepler telescope and has submitted her research to the Astronomical  Journal where the existence of these tasty “planetary candidates” are being  independently verified to ensure they were not overlooked by other scientists.

Pluto’s Heart Is Confirmed To Beat

Up close pictures taken from  NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft, showed a giant heart-shaped region  that takes up a large portion of Pluto’s surface.

Now new research according to two separate independent studies conclude that Pluto’s heart ‘beats’ when warm nitrogen ice rises upwards, spreads along the surface, and freezes over the region, known as Sputnik Planum.

Until now, researchers have known that Pluto was geologically active, but they hadn’t any idea why. These findings offer additional insight into the unusual and highly active geology  on Pluto and, perhaps, other bodies like it on the outskirts of the solar system.
